Growing up my brother and I asked, "What's for dessert?" every night after dinner.
Our mom worked full time—but most days she came home and cooked us a homemade dinner. And while I'm pretty sure that dessert was the last thing on her mind, my mom is superwoman, so we had dessert most nights too!
My mom always had a box of brownie mix in the cabinet—they were her go-to. Needless to say, I ate a lot of box mix brownies as a kid—you know the kind: add water, egg, and oil, and bake.
But why would you want box mix when you can have homemade goodness?

Meet Ditch the Mix Baker, Owner, and Founder, Miranda O’Dell!
Hey there Sweet Peeps, I’m Miranda! I’m a nurse by day and a baker by night.
I’ve been baking all my life—seriously, since 4 or 5 years old! My love for baking was sparked by three women in my life—my mom, Aunt C, and my grandma, (Ma Maw).
As a little girl, you could find me in the kitchen baking with MaMaw and Aunt C—and eating all the baked goods—or at least that's how they tell the story.
With their guidance, I learned how to bake from scratch and with love. It didn't take too long before I realized that I could bake anything from scratch—including brownies.
Over the years, I have been perfecting my baking skills—from all the dessert requests for every gathering (a girl can't just bring a side dish I guess, lol) to Pinterest-inspired experiments.
Fast forward to now—what was once just a hobby is now a growing home bakery business—Ditch the Mix—that specializes in cookies and brownies in Columbus, Ohio and I have you to thank for it!
